Charity Plug...

"After all is said and done, a lot more will be said than done."  (Anon.)

Hmm, I could spend the time and cost of this self-indulgent adventure better.  Perhaps by volunteering at an NGO a year, or by making a huge financial donation to a worthy cause.  And until I’m brave enough to do that, the fact I didn’t makes me wince.
But if my adventures help raise awareness of those in need, the journey will not have been wasted.
Thank you for your interest in and support of my trip.  If you enjoy this site, please make a donation on my behalf to the following organisations.  I have.
All proceeds from my movies go directly to these charities too.

1.  The Crossroads Foundation

I have been a big fan of the work Crossroads do since I arrived in Hong Kong. I have worked hard to generate for them regular donations of time, cash and friendship. Every little helps, as they say.

Please visit their website to see for yourself the amazing variety of services they provide. They deliver - everything and everywhere, where it’s needed most: often at the frontline of poverty.

2.  Helen & Douglas House

In the UK my family has connected with Helen & Douglas House, a centre which provides respite and end of life care for children and young adults with life-shortening conditions, as well as support and friendship for the whole family. Helen House has revolutionised the care of sick children around the world. At its heart is the philosophy of its founder Sister Frances Dominica - that a short life does not have to be an unhappy one.
The two hospices are bright, vibrant and positive places, where the emphasis is on living life to the full, even when that life may be short.

3.  Bruce Peru

My adventure will follow in the tracks of many riders, and my brother is one of them. He worked for and told me about the Bruce Organisation.

It exists to educate street kids and eradicate poverty.

To help as many of the poorest children in the third world as they can to receive as good an education as their circumstances permit. To do all they can to befriend them, motivate them to want to get educated, to help with their nutritional, medical, psychological, clothing and family well-being: and finally to get them into as good an educational institution as we can find for them.

In the places they work many of the poorest children have only a single parent at home, an abandoned mother. The Bruce Peru mission includes working to improve the prospects and quality of life of abandoned mothers.
